PJLC Coaching - Professional Coach

Paul's Story

Hi - I'm Paul. I'm married to Sarah and we have two sons, Joel and Lucas.

For 29 years I worked at senior level for B&Q, where I developed, trained, mentored and coached hundreds of colleagues to improve their personal and professional lives. In 2023 I undertook a coaching apprenticeship to deepen my own development - I discovered a passion for facilitative coaching and the profound difference focused conversation can make. I qualified in 2024 and joined the B&Q coaching network, supporting colleagues who went on to secure promotions and take on greater responsibilities.

I believe the most powerful part of coaching is the investment of time and attention in a person's growth. I'm privileged to create a supportive space where clients surface their own insight, build confidence and take clear steps toward their goals.

Coaching Philosophy

I'm a facilitative coach who creates a trusting space where clients can explore their ideas openly. I listen with empathy, reflect what I hear, and ask powerful questions that surface insight and clarity.

I believe clients already hold the knowledge and resources they need to grow. My role is to help them unpack that expertise, connect it to their goals, and take aligned action to move forward.

Empathetic Listening

Creating a safe space where you feel genuinely heard.

Non-Judgemental

No agendas, no assumptions - just honest support.

Gently Challenging

The right questions to help you think differently.

Action-Oriented

Turning insights into commitment and lasting change.

IfATE Coaching Professional Level 5 - Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education

I completed this course alongside full time work, a great course which I wanted to complete to expand my knowledge and help me form some new key skills to help my team and the business succeed. The course is designed to help managers and specialists develop, implement and evaluate coaching strategies. Core content covered advanced coaching models (e.g. GROW), coaching theory and techniques, psychology and behaviour, emotional intelligence, ethical practice, organisational context, inclusive practice and performance management.
